Long time no blog!
Well, it hasn't been that long but pretty long for yours truly....
Happy Halloween everyone! Has it already been a year since last halloween? Go sit out in a pumpkin patch and wait for the Great Pumpkin already!
Anyway.
So, speaking of Peanuts (indirectly!), Jamie's wedding was this past weekend. Omg, it was so so so much fun!! It wasn't a traditional wedding in the sense of traditional weddings - ie, no big reception with everyone very drunk afterwards, but hell, I don't think I would have had the energy to drink anyway, so it's probably good that it wasn't! Haha. :)
I had a very long weekend though, because of the wedding, starting right after work on Thursday when Andy picked me up and we drove to Milwaukee (via 43 instead of 41...hey, I wonder if hwy 42 connects 41 and 43 at any point...hmmm...okay a mapquest search reveals that hwy 42 does not, in fact, connect 41 and 43. that's kind of sad)....then got up at too-fucking-early on Friday morning (5:30 am!!!) to leave for Sandusky. It was a nice drive (lots of fall foliage! haha), but long. The wedding rehearsal was at 4pm EST, but we got to Sandusky at 3pm (we technically left Milwaukee around 6:15am CST, so getting to Sandusky at 3pm EST - 2pm CST - wasn't too bad. Lots of traffic in Chicago though- and outside...ew).
So, Friday night was fun, sort-of, went to get last-minute stuff (toothbrush, hairbrush...yeah, I forgot), as well as safety pins and a sewing kit for my dress because I forgot (surprise!) that there was, in face, something that I had needed to do for my dress before I wore it - make the straps shorter!!! Whoops...I ended up pinning it, and then putting tape over the pins to keep them hidden (sort-of worked).
Jamie looked awesome. Her dress was SO amazing!! I remember when she bought it and told me the size (a 12!), which her seamstress got down to a ZERO. I was very impressed, becaue I wouldn't have even known if I hadn't remembered that she had gotten it altered (aka, a huge chunk cut out....). She had a tiara in her hair and everything. It was so nice. I was choking up when she walked down the aisle. I'm such a sucker for hallmark moments. It was a really sweet ceremony too. I have to say I was somewhat doubtful about her getting married, because they're both really young (I was the oldest in the entire wedding party at the ripe old age of 22...yikes), but I can tell they're good for each other, and if they're sure about it, well, more power to them. I am positive they will be fine. Good luck to Jamie and Johnathan!!! :)
Saturday night was really low key, since there wasn't a reception, we had cake and a toast in the church afterwards and I had to do an impromptu maid-of-honor speech which I didn't do too badly on it. Megan, Andy, and Megan's friend Jeremy thought that I should try and throw something into the speech about Charlie Brown because that would have just been hilarious, but I couldn't think of something clever on the spot. Plus, I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face.
Speaking of Charlie Brown, right in the middle of the ceremony, the minister (who's last name was Schroeder, NO JOKE) was talking about a friggin' Charlie Brown comic!!! NO KIDDING!! I almost cracked up laughing. Jamie looked at me out of the corner of her eye and smiled, I could hear Jessica snickering behind me. Jamie, Jessica and I all worked together at Snoopy Boutique, and the minister didn't even know that!!! I caught Andy's eye at the back of the church and almost burst out laughing. Good thing I didn't catch Megan's, otherwise I would have busted out laughing for sure!!!!!
Anyway, so after hanging out with Megan and Jeremy for a little bit after the wedding (but they had to go back to Ft Wayne because Megan had to work...boo), Andy and I decided to order pizza (after I washed my hair like, three times because of all the hairspray that I had in my hair...if you thought my hair was crispy at my recital....) and we found a place with buy 1, get 2 free. So for twenty bucks, we had three LARGE pizzas. It was great. Yea for pizza. But then since we didn't have a fridge, we couldn't eat the rest (but it was only about half a pizza), although my parents suggested (on Sunday) that we should have put the rest in the car, it was friggin' COLD out in Sandusky!!!
Sadly, after getting back to work this morning, I found out that I didn't win the "lowest gas prices" award for this weekend - Mary did, with $2.14/gallon in Minnesota! How does THAT work??? We got $2.29/gallon in Ohio...and stopped at like, the last gas station on the Ohio Turnpike, which was good, since when we crossed the border into Indiana, the gas prices jumped a quarter/gallon, no joke. Unreal.
So, that was my weekend in a short novel form....but it was a great weekend. Passed a little too quickly, except, of course, the too many hours in the car....

And now, for a rant...
Today's rant: How movie companies are robbing us blind.
So, lately there have been an influx of movies that have been released - or should I say, REreleased with a new package, a few more special features and another disc or two. And be sure to jack the price up about twenty bucks. In addition to the twenty that you can already be sure to be charged as it is a new release. This brings the seemingly fabulous super special edition to break the bank for sure.
Now, as a savvy consumer I'm still completely suckered into the fancy packaging. Aside from one of my recent movie purchases, I have upgraded to my fancy schmancy edition from a simple VHS tape that I don't watch anymore (case in point: all of my VHS tapes are at home, and my VCR is lying upside down on the bottom shelf of my tv stand-bookshelf). Alas, an advertisement caught my eye the other day of a movie that I most likely will HAVE to buy, even though I already have it on DVD. Which is sad.
So, movies that have recently been rereleased with a fancier name:
Tommy Boy: Holy Schnike Edition
Clueless: Whatever Edition
Titanic: 2,3 OR 4-disc special edition with about a million extra features and at least 3 hours of extra footage (not that I would know...wait...okay, so I have just aired my guilty pleasure chick flick movie for the world to see...3 discs though! Come on!)
Wizard of Oz: So far I've seen a 2-disc and 3-disc edition, with like, five hours of special features (and if you buy it on amazon, you can get 3 discs of Wizard of Oz goodness, as well as a Graumann's Chinese Theatre program, a copy of the MGM studio newspaper released in 1939 specifically featuring the Wizard of Oz release, as well as a lot of other kick ass stuff related to the Wizard of Oz...so, for the $34.94 I paid, it's going to totally be worth it. Well, except for the fact that my single disc edition of the movie was the first DVD I actually owned, so I'm kind of sad to part with it...). And I just checked the specs of the two-disc edition on Amazon as well, and it doesn't seem to be too bad either, and for a measly $18.89...or $16.99 at Best Buy, but for me, the HARD CORE fanatic...it was not an option.
Empire Records: Special Fan Remix edition (so this is a little older than the other movies mentioned, but still worth mentioning, as they had released it already).
Office Space: Special Edition with Flair
Blues Brothers: 25th Anniversary edition
(this next one kills me)
Pretty Woman: 15th Anniversary Edition, which, from the specs I've read, doesn't seem to be THAT much different from the 10th Anniversary Edition, and I'm sure we can expect the 20th Anniversary edition in another 5 years, but if not, never fear, I'm sure there will be a 25th anniversary edition for sure in 10 years....
Anyway, I'm sure there are others (let me know)
In the meantime, they're re-releasing Airplane: Don't Call Me Shirley edition in December, which I am going to HAVE to buy (that's the one I NEED...see above)...because I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie...and I already do own it on DVD but it SUCKS for special features.
Anyway, what's next?
Oh yeah. They're releasing the entire series of both Friends AND Sex and the City in December. For a measly $200 on Amazon, you can own all ten and six seasons respectively...(not for both. Both together are something like 400 bucks). So, if you weren't collecting them as they were released....hence the reason I'm holding out. I'm hoping to get Friends: The One with All Ten Seasons Collector's Edition (with a fancy-schmancy box)....and I've made a mental note to stop buying seasons of Cheers. :)
You know what I don't understand though? I don't understand why they release box sets of movies that aren't complete? For example, I saw a complete set of Harry Potter movies the other day...well except for the minute detail that they haven't even released the last four movies. But, whatever. You know they'll release another box set once the fourth movie is released on dvd too. And then again with the fifth, etc, etc....Yeah, we'll call that COMPLETE SUCKERS who buy that shit. Either buy them individually, or wait until all seven movies come out, seriously.
Oh, and they're re-releasing four of the six Muppet movies (so I've heard). I'll be stupid enough to buy them, but luckily I only own one of them already. :) Of course, this could make copy number #3 of the Muppet Christmas Carol...just like the Don't Call Me Shirley edition will be my third copy of Airplane...(oh well).
Editions I hope to see in the future:
Garfield the Movie: Super Fat Cat Edition (I don't even like this movie, but what a great name)
Blazing Saddles: You Can Call Me Jim Edition
Young Frankenstein: The Abby Normal Edition
Aladdin: Flying Carpet Edition
Shrek: Talking Donkey Edition
The Naked Gun: Stuffed Beaver Edition
Okay, I really can't think of anymore. Feel free to leave your ideas. But just remember, if any of these go, I want royalties.

Sometimes laziness does pay off...
At least, some of the time. I, meanwhile, have been pretty much anything but lazy (okay, that's a big fat lie), but I have been somewhat productive. Even after four straight weeks of boring job-ville, I haven't quite grasped the concept that I don't, in fact, have to do homework (wow). So, what do I do, in the meantime?
Well, things don't change all that much!! I have a list of things I should do...
1. Go to the library.
2. Go to the gym.
3. Go couch-shopping.
4. Go lamp-shopping.
5. Go buy that wedding present (okay, I'm almost done with the wedding shopping, HONEST...just one more thing).
What do I do instead??? Well...one of the girls at work introduced me to the wonders that is netflix. Oh dear, what a bad addiction!!
I'm not going to go on and on about what a bad addiction netflix is (but if you are indeed a member, let me know, and we'll be netflix friends)...but I did stumble across one of the best movies I've seen in a long time (and I watch a lot of movies) accidentally. I just finished watching it this afternoon, and wow...I highly recommend it.
(So what's the movie, Lauren?)
The movie is none other than The Chorus (Les Choristes), a 2004 French movie (French??), which I have to say was pretty remarkable. I agree that the plot itself was kind of cheesy (a prefect walks into a school for juvenile delinquent boys and transforms them by the power of a choir? please), but the film was touching. I'm probably going to have to watch it again before I give it a full-blown review, but hey, with all the movie watching I'm going to have time for, maybe I'll start another blog...one filled with my movie reviews...but we'll see.
Anyway, the real world starts too early, so I'm going to bed. Maybe I'll write more about Les Choristes when I'm more coherent (Gina, aren't you proud of me for voluntarily watching a movie in French???).

The Wizard of Oz!!!!!!!!!
Oh. My. God. I think I'm the very last person to know that they are releasing a THREE DISC SPECIAL EDITION of the Wizard of Oz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am SO excited. I pre-ordered it today, and I can't WAIT until it is released. I am absolutely obsessed with that movie. So, as of approximately October 30, I will be the proud owner of one of the best editions of one of the best movies of ALL TIME!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that life can't get much better than three discs of Wizard of Oz goodness.

Lack of posting? Possible explanation to come in a few days. But first, your input, please!
I know some of you have been wondering why I have considerably declined the amount of time I spend posting. Maybe it's just that without homework, blogger is no longer a procrastination tool. With all the time I have to spend watching hours of The O.C. at a time (i'm an addict), you would think that I would have lots of time to spend writing in my blog. Of course, maybe I just don't want you to know how pathetic my life really is. :) (just kidding!)
(of course there is always livejournal. i do post on my livejournal, it's just that majority of the entries are locked. and you can always join - for free - if you have interest. i'll add you as a friend, i promise)
So, I'm going to take a poll. Keep in mind that your answers are strictly voluntary. I have nothing to do with this information except retain it. It's not for class (duh), and it's not for anything else really. And you can post anonymously (but, not completely anonymously...leave ME some sort of hint as to who you are, so I'll know, but other people who read it won't. Otherwise I'll probably disregard your commentary, and possibly subject it to the delete function...just your friendly disclaimer there, hehe).

Instructions: Read questions, leave comment with your answers. If you choose to post anonymously, please leave me some sort of hint as to who you are. And be nice!

1. If you (person A) came across something that someone (person B) wrote that was about someone else (person C) directly, would you let person C know about it?
2. If you came across something that person B wrote indirectly about person C (ie, not something that was specifically about them, but maybe affected them, ie about their work, or their class), would you let them know?
3. If you have chosen to let person C know about what person B wrote, would you do so knowing that person C and person B might have a working relationship together that could be seriously dampered because of what person B said (ex, if C and B have to work or go to school together, and you don't necessarily HAVE to pass along the information)?
4. Finally, if you don't even KNOW person B, and you find this information, would you tell about it??
If you can/find it necessary, please explain your answers, can be brief, can be long-winded. I don't care.

I will most likely explain these questions later!!!

Let's hope that bad things only happen in threes...
Today marks the third time in the past three years that I've almost gotten flattened by a very large truck. Key word: almost...so let's hope that the almost-truck flattening stops here. :)
Out of the three almost truck flattenings, this was the 2nd worst.
Almost truck-flattening #1: Summer, 2003...driving home from matc with my dad in the 2001 escort (keep in mind...a little, flimsy car) downtown Milwaukee on Kilbourn Ave. My dad and I were waiting at a red light on Kilbourn and Broadway, and when the light turned green, my dad looked left and then right before pulling out. Which is good, because a City of Milwaukee huge fucking dump truck blew the red light Broadway going really fucking fast, which would have hit the Escort right square on the door of the passenger side, which is where, you guessed, yours truly was sitting. That was the worst almost truck flattening by far...it was much worse than it sounds.
Almost truck-flattening #2: Summer, 2005...driving home from Appleton on Hampton Ave (also in the flimsy little red Escort). At Atkinson and Hampton, the light had turned yellow, so I slowed down because I was far enough away that I risked the chance of running a red light because I would have definitely blown through the red light, not just kind of skidded through at the last minute. Anyway, so I slowed down, and another fucking City of Milwaukee huge ass dump truck was behind me and, at the last minute, swerved around me to avoid flattening me (even though the light was already red)...I guess a good thing, but still not exactly very settling for the mind (wow, I almost got run over by a dump truck...again).
Almost truck-flattening #3: Today!!! I was driving north on Hwy S to get to work this morning. I should probably set it up that the company has a driveway right across another driveway (and the second driveway has trucks driving into it - often). So, I was driving up to the driveway for work (turning left) and a little bit down the way was a truck (a rather large truck!!!!!!!!) who had his turn signal on that would signal that hey, said truck was turning into the driveway across from the driveway that I was turning into, which would also mean that hey, I don't have to wait for the truck, 'cause his turn signal is on. Hey guess what?? The truck definitely wasn't turning. But luckily I've been managing to avoid getting flattened by a truck.
Yeah, I live on the edge. At least where trucks are concerned. :)

Addictions, Recommendations, and other ways to waste time...
I'd like to start out by saying that my life is now so extremely boring that I have started to discover ways in which to waste time.
So, whether you are now a cube monkey at a job, trying to procrastinate on homework, or just generally bored (weekends, anyone?? heehee) - here is Lauren's guide to wasting time!!

Internet sites!

**Lots and lots of games!!! Classics such as the helicopter game, pac-man, mini-golf (an online fad!), duck hunt, etc...as well as new favorites such as Save the Sheriff (a cute little pig trying to save his owner), Gold Miner, Waterslide, etc....ah, the many hours one could waste playing stupid games!
**More games (but some doubles) - including save the sheriff and waterslide, but also many others.
**Ebay!!!!!!!! Whether to buy or just look around for no reason, or to try and find really ridiculous things, like the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich, or a jar of air from Angelina Jolie, or whatever the fuck that was.
**Anything and everything you ever wanted to know about movies...
**Want a song lyric?? Look it up! This is especially good for looking up song lyrics when re-writing aim profiles....:)
**Want to write your own online journal?? Look at either blogger or livejournal...the perks of having a livejournal account is that you can read my livejournal, which is where I've been posting more entries based on the fact that I can moderate who reads those entries...
**College student? Waste some time on The Facebook...which doesn't seem to have all that much of a purpose, but hey, it's been fun getting in touch with some of my long-lost high school pals...or at least acquaintances, and it's kinda funny to see what people are up to these days!
**Anything and everything you ever wanted to know about your favorite TV shows - on DVD....the makers of this site have just about everything. Watch out - it's highly addicting. Make sure to register so you can get updates on your favorite TV shows!
**Christopher Walken for President!!! (who cares if it's a spoof?? he'd probably do better than Dubya. More cowbell, please!)

Movies/TV Shows to watch
As I survey my vast collection of movies, I'm thinking that this isn't nearly complete. Any suggestions for good movies to watch, please feel free to leave a comment!!
Movies
**Airplane! 1980 - a Zucker brothers production...wacky, crazy, and just overall stupid humor...if you haven't watched this, consider yourself deprived.
**Blazing Saddles - a Mel Brooks production...lots of stupid humor, as well as a stellar cast. See it. Now.
**Clueless! Whatever Edition - I guess it really doesn't matter which edition you watch, but it's a classic movie.
**Dead Poets Society - another classic movie...intellectual as well, but if you're going for looks, we've got Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard. And a rare serious role for Robin Williams.
**Empire Records - I recently broaded my DVD collection with this movie...after watching the VHS nonstop for about six years...ah, a classic, and probably my all-time favorite movie!
**Forrest Gump - as a history major, I'm more and more amused by this as I catch more of the subtle (and not so subtle) historical references, as well as how Forrest managed to get himself into just about all of them...
**Garden State - a close runner-up to Empire Records...I consider this another must-see for our generation.
**Indian Summer - not a well known movie by any means, the DVD can usually be found for cheap at Best Buy and cheaper at Wal-Mart, but for anyone who ever went to summer camp, consider this both a humorous walk down memory lane as well as a movie that makes you think - at least somewhat.
**Love Actually - a romantic comedy that weaves the stories of about 10 different people together. Special interest for Wisconsinites as Colin leaves England to go to an exotic American locale - Milwaukee.
**The Naked Gun Series - I confess that I've only seen the first Naked Gun movie, but I was dying laughing. I just picked up the 3rd movie The Naked Gun 33 and 1/3: The Final Insult, but I expect it to be the same stupid humor. Made by the same producers as Airplane!, Shorewood's own David and Jerry Zucker.
**Saved! - This movie was criticized as making fun of Christianity, and if so, whatever, because you can't tell me you didn't ever know anyone like Hillary Faye!
**Sister Act - another movie criticized for making fun of religion, more specifically Catholicism, but I think it was tasteful, yet funny. And Whoopi Goldberg as a nun???
**Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - the original Gene Wilder classic. I love Johnny Depp but I love Gene Wilder more.
**The Wizard of Oz - a cult classic, the movie made from L. Frank Baum's classic book...while the book IS better, the movie is fabulous.
**Young Frankenstein - proving the 1974 was one of the best years for classic movies...made the same year with a similar cast to Blazing Saddles. For fans of the sarcastic humor and satire, go see this movie.
Also, go see any of the classic Disney animated movies (ie, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Cinderella), and the first four Muppet Movies (The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, The Muppet Christmas Carol).
Like I said, this is just a small smattering of the movies I watch. I'm sure I've left out a lot of classics (either I don't own them - such as Casablanca - or I just don't care - ex. Gone With the Wind.) :) Any other must-see movie, leave a comment!

TV Shows
**Garfield and Friends. C'mon, like you didn't know that would be number one???
**Cheers
**M*A*S*H (while you're at it, see the movie the show was based on too!)
**Friends
**NewsRadio
**FAMILY GUY!!!!

**The O.C. (don't laugh. you know you watch it too!)
**The Muppet Show
**Firefly (i confess, i've never watched it, but i know that megan will probably leave a comment recommending it. and the movie serenity too!)
**Lost (highly recommended by just about everyone, including Adam and the nice folks at tvshowsondvd.com!)
**Gilmore Girls (another show i don't watch, but i know some people do - cough, matt, cough, leah ann)
**Seinfeld (not exactly a loyal follower, but i know many people, cough, andy, cough that do, and i will say the show has its moments. i love kramer)
**Desperate Housewives (since i'm like, the only person in the world that doesn't watch this show...it has to be at least somewhat good...heehee)
Ah, I'm sure there are others out there, eh? Let me know which ones...

I'd get to books too, but I'm too tired/can't think of any good ones, aside from a must-read (I'm not even just saying this): Harlan Coben's The Innocent. I swear, I couldn't put it down...
But we'll wait for my book list once I actually start reading things again. :)

Thank the lord for the Wednesday...
Okay, so that was pretty lame, but then again this week has been pretty lame. Actually the last two weeks have been pretty lame, as well.
Anyway, so, I'm all settled in my new apartment and I LOVE IT!!! It's SO freaking cute. I have a lot more to do before I'm all settled in, but I figure I've got at least a year here, right?? (probably more). So far I don't have much along the line of furniture and I need both a couch and a futon mattress (since I have an abundance of space and actually need both a couch AND a futon as well as a bed!). There's a few other things here and there that I need, but not too much. I'm so excited about my apartment. I'm going couch hunting on Saturday afternoon, I think.
As for work, it's still blah. I can't wait until training is over. I only hope that I'll feel comfortable enough with my job, and that my trainer isn't going to completely screw me over the way she appears to be doing right now (if you want more details, see my livejournal - it's a locked entry). I still need to get comfirmation that I have Oct 28 off - because hell, it's Jamie's wedding!!!!!!!! I better get that day off. I went into my very first interview for my job needing that date off, and I told THREE people (interviewing type people), as well as my trainer and supervisor on my FIRST actual day of work about it. I seriously wouldn't have taken the job if any of the interview people had said I would have to miss the wedding - because if a company won't understand a prior commitment like a freaking wedding, than they aren't a company that I would want to work for.
I'm still adjusting to getting up at 7am every day. I'm hoping it doesn't take the full two months of training to get adjusted. I'm not sure what my hours will be after that. When I was hired, I was given the hours of 11:30-8, but they only start you on those hours so that you'll be prepared in case you actually get stuck with them. I'm hoping more for hours such as 9-5:30, or 9:30-6...MAYBE 10-6:30.
So, I really meant to go to the library today, but that didn't happen. I also meant to go grocery shopping today, but that also didn't happen. Maybe tomorrow...
My sister is talking about getting another cat for our house. I definitely can see the advantage to getting one right away (and they're thinking of getting one of those 'refugee' cats from Hurricane Katrina), but personally, I'm not ready to get another cat. Bear was MY kitty, and I miss her sooooooooooo much. :( I guess I'm kind of glad that I'm not living at home anymore...but I will be excited to see if they get a new kitty or not. Whoever thought that I would be able to convert an entire household of dog-people into cat people!!!! Hehehehe.
Anyway, I'm going to go to bed soon (gahhh, not used to saying that). I hope hope hope hope hope the cold front actually comes through tonight, since I was freaking out last night (literally!) because it was too hot to sleep. Dear Mother Nature, it's Wisconsin in October. Lay off the too-fucking-hot weather!!!!!!!!!! :)

omFg!!!
What a day.
Things started going wrong as soon as I left the house. I got about halfway to work when I realized FUCK! I forgot my cell phone. Normally this wouldn't be a huge problem but since I was leaving from work to go to Milwaukee, this was kind of a problem. I don't particularly like driving long distances (not that GB to Milwaukee is a very long distance, but it's long enough) without my phone. And I didn't have my phone tonight. And not having my phone today will end up being a problem.
I get to work, everything is kosher. Over the lunch hour, I called the apartment manager to let her know the fax number for work so that she could get a verification of employment. After giving her the number, she asks if I'd gotten her earlier message, which I hadn't, so she said I needed to call WE-Energies to get my electric turned on...for moving in tomorrow. Double fuck...but, without my cell phone, it was virtually impossible to make said phone call, I only had a 15 minute break at 3pm (spending only 15 minutes on a customer service line is virtually impossible...). I figured I could probably call when I got home from work - not a big deal. Leaving GB around 5:15, I anticipated getting home before 7.
I didn't, however, get the memo that people were going to drive 20 mph on both Hwy 172 and I-43 for periods of time. Nor did I get the memo to drive like 80 mph as to not get rear-ended. And I guess I missed the memo that says it takes way-too-fucking-long to get a Coke at a gas station because there is only one cashier working and they're like, renewing a hunting license or something (this is rural Wisconsin at its finest, folks!). And I didn't really want to pay $2.99/gallon for my gas.

Side note: I was going through stuff tonight and I found a REALLY funny picture of a gas station in Madison back in May, 2001. The owner of the gas station had cited the following prices-
Reg Unleaded: 1.72
Premium: A.RM
Super: L.EG
Okay, that's hilarious, because I'm guessing ARM = 1.82, and LEG = 1.92...ah, if only...

So after waiting too long to buy a freaking Coke, almost getting rear-ended, paying too much for gas, I made my way back to the highway, where despite the Coke and the endless amounts of great music in my iPod, I almost died once again when some stupid chick decided to (after I put on my turn signal to change lanes because I was going behind the SLOWEST truck in the world) try and speed up but ended up just driving the same speed as me and at the same place in the road, making it virtually impossible to change lanes even though I was getting deathly close to hitting the truck. So I put on my brakes, the guy behind me almost rear-ended ME, and the truck got on the off ramp and the same stupid chick CUT ME OFF! Man, talk about road rage ..... !!!!
I must have missed the last memo that said drive 5mph on Lake Drive. It was our very own fucking parade. And then the parade leaders found their destination and decided to parallel park WITHOUT WAITING FOR THE REST OF THE PARADE TO PASS! Stooooopid fucker in a van almost hit me while they were parallel parking (even though I was waaaaaaaaay over the yellow lane markers).
Miraculously, I made it home in one piece.
And then I find out that oh no, the suckiness isn't over yet...
My dad took Bear to the vet on Monday to see how the vet thought she was doing. Unfortunately, Bear was not doing so well, and Bear is no longer with us. So, for the rest of the night I've been on-and-off in tears. At first I was angry, like, how could they not tell me that MY cat was dead?? But she was put to sleep on Monday, and Monday was the first stressful day of my job. I needed the whole week just to adjust to the routine (I'm still not adjusted), and I think periodically bursting into tears around people I don't know because my cat died would probably have not been the best thing. Not to mention I don't think my concentration level would have been that high, and I had enough trouble focusing as it was. So, I'm really glad they didn't tell me. I didn't ask when I talked to my parents this week either. I think I knew, but I didn't want to confirm it.
I miss my cat...:-(
In the meantime, I had to call the electric company. For the 35 minutes I spent with their automated voice messages telling me that someone would be with me shortly, I looked at pictures of my cat and cried more, and I never did end up talking to anyone from the electric company (35 minutes of their background music was far too much).
Aside from missing my cat, and crying about that on and off, today was just more amusing than bad (well, except for that stupid chick that cut me off).
But I packed my bed into the moving truck, intending that my sister was going to stay at a friend's apartment, but she just came home - so, no bed.
Ah, let's hope tomorrow I succeed in getting the rest of my stuff packed and electricity turned on in my apartment!
Oh, but I do have my official address now, so if anyone wants it - let me know!! :)
